JoSAA 2025 Counselling : Admission Process for IITs, NITs, IIITs & GFTIs

JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) is the official authority responsible for managing and regulating the seat allocation for admissions into 128 institutes for the academic year 2025-26. These include:
23 IITs
32 NITs
26 IIITs
47 Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs)
It is conducted for candidates who qualify for JEE Main (for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs) and JEE Advanced (for IITs).

Lock the choices before the deadline.
What are the Eligibility Criteria for JoSAA 2025?
For IITs: Must qualify JEE Advanced 2025 with a valid rank.
For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs: Must qualify JEE Main 2025 with a valid rank.
Must have secured at least 75% marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST) OR be in the top 20th percentile of their respective boards.
How Does the JoSAA Seat Allocation Work?
The allocation of seats is based on:
Candidate’s JEE Main or Advanced rank
Category (GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD)
Seat availability
Preferences filled by the candidate
Cut-off of respective institutes
Each round of allotment allows candidates to accept, float, or slide their seats.
What is the Difference Between Freeze, Float, and Slide Options?
Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and do not wish to participate in further rounds.
Float: Accept the current seat but want a better option in the next rounds.
Slide: Accept the seat and wish to upgrade only within the same institute.

What is the Reporting Process After Seat Allotment?
Pay the seat acceptance fee online (INR 35,000 for GEN/OBC; INR 15,000 for SC/ST/PwD).
Upload the required documents for verification.
Report to the nearest reporting centre (RC) if asked.
Confirm the seat or choose the float/slide option.
